Rotterdam – On Saturday afternoon (11/2/2017) there was a special transport on the river “Nieuwe Maas”. Barge “Caroline” was transporting a part of an electricity distribution station. The transport had to pass the old railway bridge, the monumental icon of the City of Rotterdam, well known as “de Hefburg”, which is in full restoration at this moment. In fact the restored counterweights have just been hung back in their places and the old bridge was open for the first time since return of the counterweights.
With only 30 cm to spare CSC crewing, Barge Master Teun, carefully lowered the barge into the river, to get extra space between the structure and the mobile bridge part.
The section was transported from Ridderkerk to Hoek van Holland.
Job well done.
